We'll perform Tchaikovsky's "Souvenir de Florence," named after the city because Tchaikovsky sketched one of the work's main themes during his visit. We'll open the evening with Edvard Grieg's "Holberg Suite," based on 18th-century dances, and conclude the first half with Mozart's 5th Violin Concerto, often referred to as the "Turkish." The solo part will be performed by 17-year-old Swiss-Latvian violinist Ilva Eigus, winner of numerous international competitions and a student of Zakhar Bron in Zurich.
