At its core, the Empyrean Orchestra is about connecting tradition with a contemporary spirit and designing innovative concert formats: through technological integration, participatory elements, or exclusive programs in intimate settings

A central pillar of our mission is the promotion of young talent. Emerging soloists are given a platform with us to develop artistically.

The Empyrean Orchestra unites young, highly qualified musicians from both Switzerland and abroad, with a strong focus on Switzerland’s freelance music scene, impressively reflecting the country’s rich musical heritage.
​

The Empyrean Orchestra is committed not only to musical excellence on stage but also to the musical education of the next generation. With the founding of the Empyrean Academy for Children, the orchestra creates a creative platform where children of all ages can explore and discover music, play in ensembles, and gain their first experiences in conducting—even without prior knowledge. The Academy takes place once a week during the academic term and is supervised by musician/violinist and conductor Kevin Griffiths, along with musicians from the Empyrean Orchestra. Through this initiative, the Empyrean Orchestra connects artistic creation with sustainable talent development and thus contributes to long-term cultural growth.

The Orchestra has already collaborated with renowned soloists such as Kian Soltani, Äneas Humm, Svetlin Roussev, and Maurice Steger, as well as with the Zurich Boys’ Choir. The orchestra regularly performs at the Tonhalle Zurich and also participates in charitable formats, including the annual benefit concert at the Grossmünster Zurich organized by Artists For A Better Planet, in support of disadvantaged children in social hotspots and war zones.

Additionally, the Orchestra has performed at private events, such as at the Zunft zur Meisen or at Schiffbau Zurich for the Helsana Group – an event attended, among others, by Federal President Ignazio Cassis.
 

​In the long term, we aim to build an orchestra with international reach – a distinctive artistic voice defined by excellence, cultural responsibility, and creative radiance, securing a lasting place in the international music scene. We are convinced that an orchestra can be more than just a sound body on stage. It can be a vibrant center of artistic dialogue, a space for visions, where talents grow, ideas take shape, and community becomes tangible through music.
