About the event
We will be performing Tchaikovsky's "Souvenir de Florence" named after the city because Tchaikovsky sketched one of the work's principal themes while visiting. We shall open the evening with Edvard Grieg's "Holberg Suite", based on 18th century dances and close the first half of the evening with Mozart's 5th violin concerto often referred to by the nickname "Turkish". The solo part will be performed by 17 year old Swiss-Latvian violinist Ilva Eigus, a winner of numerous awards at International competitions who studied with Zakhar Bron in Zurich.
